Jim Does Sierra Century!
104 mile bike ride in Amador County

The Sierra Century starts at the Amador County fairgrounds in Plymouth. The first rest stop is in Ione, then through the oak woodlands up to Sutter Creek, and then along Sutter Creek to the second rest stop in Volcano. After refueling at Volcano, riders climb Ram's Horn Grade and descend to Fiddletown and rest stop 3. From Fiddletown riders return through the Amador wine country to Plymouth. Elevation at this point is approximately 4,700 feet. The Sierra Century continues on to Fiddletown. From there the riders continue into El Dorado County and climb the infamous Slug Gulch. Those who conquer this climb receive a special award. For those riders who would like to save Slug Gulch for next year, there is a bypass option. At the end of the day riders will have an elevation gain of 7,500 feet. Jim and his fellow riders opted to take the bypass put still put in 94 miles. Way to go guys!
